MEDIA BIAS IN BLAGOJEVICH COVERAGE

January 9, 2009

I have taken a keen interest in Governor Rod Blagojevich’s (Illinois) wiretap and now impeachment cases.  Let me start out by stating that I like his down to earth talk and easy manner.  Those are rare attributes in today’s political world.  In addition, I do not believe he is any dirtier than any other politician in Chicago or the Nation.  It seems to me that the powers that be and players (including Obama), want him removed and shut up as soon as possible so that all the wrong doings by others in this matter can be swept under the rug.   Furthermore, I worry for his safety.

Now, to the reason for writing this post.  I started out today watching Governor Blagojevich’s press conference on his impeachment on FOX news channel with Shepard Smith.  When Governor Blagojevich was speaking,  Smith could be heard making rude statements, such as who are those people behind you? or words to that effect.  Smith continued to make snide remarks, and it got to the point that I just couldn’t stand it anymore, so I switched to CNN (which should tell you just how annoyed I was!), where upon things did not get any better.  Instead of CNN’s commentator speaking and making snide remarks, CNN split the screen and showed bloggers’ remarks against the Governor.

All of this is just too much for me!   This was blatant BIAS!  I thought that news agencies were supposed to REPORT the news.  Of course, we saw during the primary, the bias and misogyny against Hillary by ALL the networks, but this still came as a shock.  It makes me realize, more than ever, that we MUST work on media reform.  The media is controlling the masses through the air waves.  There are those who do not see it, and never will.  However, those of us who do, must do our duty and fight this evil for us all.

It’s not going to be an easy job, but with determination, strong conviction, and a united front we CAN do it.
